Term

Avalanche bulletin

A dated regional information product describing avalanche conditions; not a guarantee for a specific slope.

GLOSSARY · Mountain literacy & safety vocabulary

An avalanche bulletin, published by a regional avalanche service, rates the danger level, names the main avalanche problems and describes where and when they are most likely. Riders read it before going off-piste or into the backcountry.

Context and distinction

The bulletin describes a region, not an individual slope. It does not replace avalanche training or judgement in the field.
