Trick

Backside 180 — Ground

A popped backside half-turn from main stance into switch.

HOW TO DO IT

Backside 180 — Ground

A popped backside half-turn from main stance into switch. It develops from controlled non-jumping changes but requires a distinct release and landing.

Preparation and setting

Small ollie, no-jump backside preparation and switch stopping.

Execution / application sequence

  1. Organize a modest toe-side setup.
  2. Flex without excessive torso winding.
  3. Release upward as backside rotation begins.
  4. Keep the board under the body through the less visible phase.
  5. Complete switch alignment before contact.
  6. Absorb and regain forward travel reference.

Learning and practice

Use G19 and the second-stage turn-and-pop drill, then move departure earlier as control improves.

Errors and corrections

Dragging through the turn: improve pop. Blind landing panic: reduce scope and rebuild switch control. Edge catch: inspect alignment and inclination.

Observable checks

The board clears snow deliberately and finishes switch without a rescue turn.
