Backside 360 — Ground
HOW TO DO IT
Backside 360 — Ground
A full backside ground rotation using modest toe-side preparation and upward ollie. The cited lesson builds on BS180 and Half Cab, not on simply dragging a longer surface turn.
Preparation and setting
Ground BS180, Half Cab and reliable toe-side pop.
Execution / application sequence
- Approach with light toe-side control.
- Prepare shoulder rotation without excessive winding.
- Flex and release into a genuine upward ollie.
- Bring the board through the full turn beneath the body.
- Align the original-stance landing before setting an edge.
- Absorb and finish without a rescue pivot.
Learning and practice
Practise individual attempts with a reset. Use component half-turn awareness to organize the later phase instead of increasing arm force.
Errors and corrections
Flat low spin: improve pop before rotation demand. Sharp carve at departure: reduce edge setup. Underrotation rescued by edge dragging: reduce difficulty and restore alignment.
Observable checks
A full rotation and clear departure are visible; the final stance matches entry.
HOW TO DO IT
Backside 360 within a Carving Line
The original lesson places a BS360 within flowing carving, using turn load, preparation, ollie and aligned return. Its equipment example is descriptive rather than a universal board requirement.
Preparation and setting
Ground BS360, predictable carving and a clear line with space for landing.
Execution / application sequence
- Plan the turn and outgoing landing path.
- Use the turn load while remaining centred over the board.
- Prepare rotation without forcing a large axis tilt.
- Release into the established BS360.
- Align the board before receiving the next carve.
- Resume controlled turns and stop before another attempt.
Learning and practice
Insert a straight pop into a carving line before adding the known spin. Keep the first linked rotation small in scope and reset afterwards.
Errors and corrections
Excessive edge force tilts the axis: reduce the setup. Poor line leaves no landing room: revise approach. Immediate hard carve after contact: absorb and align first.
Observable checks
The spin has a clear landing and the line resumes deliberately. A stiff board is not assigned as a compulsory prerequisite.

Additional teaching summary — coaching review required
Carving-line context (S10, 神戸星竜): a backside ollie 360 integrated into a sequence of carving turns, keeping a centred organization rather than a large fore/aft transfer on his stiff-board setup; connects turn-derived support, preparatory winding, departure, airborne alignment and continued travel. Errors: overly strong edging introduces an unwanted axis; poor line choice interrupts the carve/trick flow. Board stiffness is example metadata, not a requirement.
