Term
Base bevel
The edge angle on the base side, measured relative to the base reference.
GLOSSARY · Equipment, setup & maintenance
Base bevel lifts the steel edge slightly away from the snow on the base side, usually by about 0.5–1 degree. More base bevel makes the board easier to turn and less catchy; less makes it bite sooner.
Context and distinction
Base bevel is on the bottom of the edge; side bevel is on its side face. Together they set the edge's sharpness and feel.
