Term
Canonical term
The preferred label for one defined concept within a specified context.
GLOSSARY · Orientation & naming
The canonical term is the name the Bible uses as the title of an entry. It is chosen so that one entry covers one defined concept; other names for the same concept are kept as aliases and still lead to it in search.
Context and distinction
Choosing a canonical term does not mean other names are wrong. When the same word means different things in different contexts, each meaning gets its own entry with a qualified title, such as Transition — between turns.
