Method

Consolidation: switch basics; varied snow; narrow passages; avoiding obstacles

Switch control includes intentional starts, linked travel and stopping, not just landing with the opposite end leading. First-day learning combines equipment familiarity, supported movement, speed control and terrain choice. Each new task needs a predictable finish; confidence alone is not control.

HOW TO DO IT

Consolidation under changed demands

Switch travel, changed snow, narrower space and obstacle avoidance introduce different demands. Each needs its own task assessment.

Preparation and setting

Reliable familiar riding with a controlled finish; change one demand at a time in appropriate managed terrain.

Execution / application

  1. Select one dimension to practise.
  2. For switch, begin with short controlled glides and stops before linked travel.
  3. For changed snow, sample a lower-demand section and adapt the familiar turn.
  4. For space constraints, choose a line that remains within demonstrated turning and stopping control.
  5. Return to the familiar setting when the new demand defeats control.
  6. Record which skill remains unstable.

Learning and practice

Do not combine first switch practice, new snow and a narrow route in the same introductory task. Use existing Package1 condition lessons for the specific adaptation.

Errors, limits and corrections

Treating one successful switch landing as switch independence overstates control. Avoidance cannot rely on an unassessed last-second turn.

Observable checks

The chosen new dimension is controlled separately and its limitations are recorded.
