Term
Dynamic balance
Staying balanced while moving, as speed, terrain, edge angle and forces keep changing.
GLOSSARY · Movement & mechanics
Snowboarding is rarely static: every turn, bump and trick shifts the forces acting on the rider. Dynamic balance means constantly adjusting stance, joints and centre of mass so the rider stays in control rather than holding one fixed position.
Context and distinction
Static balance is holding still on a board; dynamic balance is staying functional through change. A rider can look stable when standing but lose balance once the board starts to move.
