Term

Edge change

Transferring from one working edge to the other.

GLOSSARY · Movement & mechanics

Linking turns means moving from one edge to the other — toe to heel or heel to toe. The board passes through a flat moment, briefly or for longer, as the rider moves across it and tips it onto the new edge.

Context and distinction

An edge change is one part of a turn transition. How it is produced — crossover, cross-under, up- or down-unweighting — is described separately.
