Drill

Empty Stopping-Zone Task

Link approach, progressive braking and a stable chosen-location finish.

HOW TO DO IT

Empty Stopping-Zone Task

Link approach, progressive braking and a stable chosen-location finish.

Preparation and setting

Broad empty zone with clear margin beyond; reliable sideslip on selected edge.

Exercise sequence

  1. Choose zone and identify approach margin.
  2. Begin a short slow sideslip.
  3. Start decelerating before reaching zone.
  4. Increase same-edge engagement progressively.
  5. Hold finish and compare location.
  6. Adjust start or braking onset, then repeat on other edge; turn approach comes later.

Transfer

Add a familiar J/C-turn approach while preserving the same final stopping objective.

Errors addressed

Overshooting; Fall counted as stop; One-edge-only stopping; Last-second braking.

Success check

Repeated upright finishes occur within the zone on both edges, with deliberate timing.

Simplify when needed

Shorten approach and remove target pressure until D12/D13 is reliable.
