Technique
Flexed Transition for Quick / Uneven-Terrain Turns
GLOSSARY
Using a flexed (down-unweighted) transition lets riders change edges quickly and stay low, which helps in short turns and on bumpy or uneven snow.
Context and distinction
This is an application; the underlying method is described on the Down-Unweighting card.

Flexed Transition for Quick / Uneven-Terrain Turns
A flexed transition can shorten the release task and provide range to adapt to quick turns or uneven terrain. This applies TC22-17; it is not a duplicate fundamental.
Preparation and setting
Established flexion-based turns; short familiar section.
Execution / practice sequence
- Anticipate the next edge change or terrain rise.
- Flex to preserve adjustment range.
- Release and establish the new support.
- Extend only as the chosen terrain/arc permits.
- Recover for the following demand.
How to learn / practise
Compare smooth-terrain and modest uneven-terrain applications with the same turning goal. Keep speed manageable.
Errors and corrections
Rigidly applying the same timing to every bump: adapt to geometry. Permanently crouched legs remove further flexion range: use a smaller task.
Observable checks
The rider maintains contact and controlled direction with movement available.
