Term
Airborne phase
The part of a movement between complete release from a supporting surface and the next contact.
GLOSSARY
During this interval the rider and board travel through the air. A grab is contact between the rider and board, so it does not end the airborne phase. A handplant, board tap or landing introduces an external contact and must be described separately.
Context and distinction
An airborne phase is part of a movement, not a separate named trick.
