Term
Bank
A sloped sidewall or raised curved terrain surface.
GLOSSARY · Terrain, snow & environment
Banks are tilted walls of snow, natural or shaped, that riders can carve up and turn on, much like the walls of a banked slalom course or the sides of a gully. They let the board turn at speed with support from the slope.
Context and distinction
A bank is a sloped sidewall; a halfpipe or quarterpipe has a curved transition up to near-vertical. Banks are lower and gentler.
