HOW TO DO IT
Frontside 180 — No-jump Drill
The teacher uses continuation from a slow heel-side turn to change into switch without an ollie. It is surface preparation, not a claimed airborne 180.
Preparation and setting
Controlled heel turns and switch glide.
Execution / application sequence
- Make a slow heel-side turn.
- As the board comes across the slope, guide the rear shoulder forward.
- Lighten edge resistance and keep the base appropriately flat during redirection.
- Let the board complete the stance change.
- Quiet the arms and look along switch travel.
- Stop or return to main stance deliberately.
Learning and practice
Repeat small turn continuations. Do not add pop until the switch finish is controlled.
Errors and corrections
Toe pressure during sideways redirection may catch: reduce demand and restore base awareness. Forced shoulders: use a smaller continuation. Unstable switch: isolate switch riding.
Observable checks
Non-jumping stance change and controlled finish are visible.
