HOW TO DO IT

Half Cab → Tail Manual → Backside 180

A switch frontside half-turn into a main-stance tail manual, then a backside half-turn out to switch. It is distinct from the nose-manual combination.

Preparation and setting

Half Cab, a moving tail manual and tail-supported release practiced separately.

Execution / application sequence

  1. Approach switch without excessive lateral drift.
  2. Pop Half Cab and receive the landing over a stable path.
  3. Shift into tail support and keep the nose clear.
  4. Temporarily contain board rotation during the manual.
  5. Release the manual into BS180 with sufficient clearance.
  6. Land switch, absorb and settle.

Learning and practice

Start with a very short hold so the exit can be organized. Extend duration only when it does not consume the balance needed to depart.

Errors and corrections

Nose slaps down before exit: shorten the hold and return to basic tail manual. Board keeps rotating: reduce entry momentum. Abrupt sideways departure: organize clearance before rotation.

Observable checks

Tail support is identifiable and the final half-turn is a separate controlled exit.

01

teaching summary — coaching review required

The lesson controls approach drift, organizes the tail-supported phase after the first rotation, restrains rotation during the manual and then pops into the exit.

editorial review notes

Keep nose-manual and tail-manual combinations separate even though their entry and exit rotations match.
