Hardway Entry

A feature entry using the hardway rotational direction for the stated approach side.

GLOSSARY

The IJC manual describes a frontside approach with frontside entry rotation as hardway, rather than the normal backside entry direction. Record the approach, rotation amount and receiving slide position.

Context and distinction

This application card concerns getting onto the feature. It is retained separately from the broader Hardway modifier.

HOW TO DO IT

Hardway — Entry Relationship

A source-specific relation between approach and entry path, linked to lipslide-style direction. It is not universally defined as wrong-edge take-off.

Preparation and setting

Separate feature approach, crossing end and actual spin direction.

Execution / application sequence

  1. Identify feature side at approach.
  2. Identify which end crosses.
  3. Record take-off edge only when stated.
  4. Compare the source's hardway convention.
  5. Leave undemonstrated variants unresolved..

Learning and practice

Use the explicitFS270 training example rather than generating hardway permutations.

Errors, limits and corrections

A take-off-edge mnemonic alone misses geometry. Do not merge with pretzel or sameway exits.

Observable checks

Entry relation understood; missing variants retain explicit gaps.

Additional editorial review notes

S2 relates the hardway entry rotation to the direction used for a lipslide; its examples include frontside 180 and backside 270. Feature approach and actual entry path must stay explicit; this is not a blanket 'wrong edge' definition. Batch 04's Hardway Frontside 270 In example is more specific.
