Term
Heel hold
How securely a boot retains the heel during movement.
GLOSSARY · Equipment, setup & maintenance
Good heel hold keeps the heel down in the boot when the rider goes onto the toe edge. Poor heel hold lets the heel lift, delaying edge response and causing blisters.
Context and distinction
Heel hold depends on boot fit and lacing; binding fit affects the whole foot. Tightening the binding does not fix a boot that is too large.
