HOW TO DO IT

Heel J-Turn with Planned Finish

Join short along-board travel to a rounded heel-side finish.

Preparation and setting

Short glide established; heel support rehearsed; suitable clear lane/runout; distinguish one- and two-foot versions.

Exercise sequence

  1. Choose heel finish zone.
  2. Rehearse supported heel action.
  3. Glide briefly with stable feet.
  4. Develop heel engagement and small coordinated steering progressively.
  5. Round path across slope.
  6. Stop on heel edge and hold finish.

Transfer

Supplies heel shaping/stop for heel C-turn; do not claim complete transition competence.

Errors addressed

Rearward sitting; Abrupt pivot; Free-foot loss; Late stop.

Success check

Repeatable rounded J-shaped path and deliberate finish in zone.

Simplify when needed

Shorten approach and repair glide or heel stop separately.
