Heel Release–Slide–Stop Cycles

Connect gradual heel-edge release with a deliberate same-edge stop.

HOW TO DO IT

Heel Release–Slide–Stop Cycles

Connect gradual heel-edge release with a deliberate same-edge stop.

Preparation and setting

Gentle clear pitch, board across slope on uphill heel edge; mobile support.

Exercise sequence

  1. Confirm toe-edge clearance.
  2. Release a small amount until a short slide starts.
  3. Retain broadside orientation and look toward the stopping area.
  4. Increase engagement gradually to slow.
  5. Hold stable stop and repeat without increasing distance.

Transfer

Transfer to heel traverse and D14 stopping-zone practice.

Errors addressed

Toe-edge catch; Unintended diagonal; Overseated heel stance; Abrupt grab/release.

Success check

Several short starts and upright stops remain deliberate and broadly across the slope.

Simplify when needed

Stay stationary with D05 or reduce pitch/distance if release is uncontrolled.
