Term

Hypothesis

A proposed explanation to test; distinguish it from a confirmed cause of a riding problem.

GLOSSARY · Learning, analysis & assessment

When analysing riding, a coach forms a hypothesis — for example "the turns skid because the rider is in the back seat" — then tests it with a drill or change and watches the result.

Context and distinction

A hypothesis is a possible cause, not a confirmed one. It is checked with a recheck after the change.
