Term
Knuckle
The changeover or crest before a jump's landing slope; distinguish it from the intended landing zone.
GLOSSARY · Terrain, snow & environment
The knuckle is the rounded crest where the flat top (deck) of a jump turns into the landing slope. Landing on the knuckle or before it is harder on the body than landing further down the slope.
Context and distinction
The knuckle is not the landing zone; the sweet spot is on the steeper landing below it.
