Drill

Linked Beginner Banked Turns

Several linked turns on a shaped banked course, with instructors reinforcing steering and appropriate edge engagement.

HOW TO DO IT

Linked Beginner Banked Turns

Linked beginner banked turns use a shaped course to connect early direction changes. The course supports learning; the rider still needs steering, balance and appropriate edge control.

Preparation and setting

Individual assisted banked turns and controlled stopping.

Execution / practice sequence

  1. Identify the track's sequence and finish.
  2. Enter the first bank along its intended line.
  3. Allow the turn to develop with modest rider input.
  4. Recover through the connection.
  5. Enter the next bank with movement available.
  6. Finish at the planned stop.

How to learn / practise

Join two banks before the full track. Reduce the sequence if the connection becomes uncontrolled.

Errors and corrections

Treating the terrain as automatic control ignores speed and exit. Large upper-body swings can hide lower-body learning.

Observable checks

Several assisted turns connect deliberately within the designed task.
