Trick
Nose Roll 180
GLOSSARY
From a stable nose press, the rider rotates the tail around the planted nose for a half turn and rides away in the opposite stance. It is a core buttering and guratori trick.
Context and distinction
A nose roll pivots around the supported nose; a nose spin keeps rotating in a nose butter; a flat 180 is airborne.

Nose Roll 180
An existing named half-turn organized over nose support. It combines loading, release of unwanted edge resistance, supported rotation and switch ride-away.
Preparation and setting
Nose Press, small controlled surface pivots and switch stopping.
Execution / application sequence
- Approach with manageable glide.
- Move into modest nose support.
- Lighten the free tail enough for clearance.
- Guide a controlled half-turn without wrenching against a locked edge.
- Recentre as the board aligns switch.
- Ride away and stop deliberately.
Learning and practice
Use a smaller supported arc and deliberate return before demanding 180. Full source-specific edge geometry remains technical review work.
Errors and corrections
Tail drags: restore clearance. Torso falls ahead: reduce loading. Edge remains locked: reduce range and rebuild pivot awareness.
Observable checks
Supported nose rotation and a controlled switch exit are distinguishable.
01
teaching summary — coaching review required
The lesson covers shifting pressure into a stable nose press and completing a controlled half-turn. Separate edge release, supported rotation and exit in the eventual teaching card.
02
editorial review notes
Do not use uncontrolled edge dragging as the success criterion.
