Term

Nose

The designated physical front end of the board; its name does not reverse in switch.

GLOSSARY · Orientation & naming

The nose is the end of the board designated as the front, often marked by graphics or a longer, softer shape on directional boards. When a rider goes switch, the nose becomes the trailing end but keeps its name.

Context and distinction

Nose and tail name physical ends; leading and trailing describe the current direction of travel. A nose press ridden switch is still a nose press.
