One-Variable Turn Comparison

Diagnose timing, intensity or duration rather than change everything at once.

HOW TO DO IT

One-Variable Turn Comparison

Diagnose timing, intensity or duration rather than change everything at once.

Preparation and setting

Familiar gentle pitch and repeatable single turns; same start and finish zone.

Exercise sequence

  1. Observe an ordinary turn and name one failed outcome.
  2. Select one candidate action.
  3. Change only its timing modestly and compare.
  4. If useful, repeat before changing intensity.
  5. Test a more gradual action or different duration separately, retaining route and stopping margin.

Transfer

Use the successful adjustment in a short linked pair; reassess when terrain changes.

Errors addressed

Inconsistent phase timing; Abrupt late engagement; Steering input persists beyond intended finish.

Success check

Observer can name the changed variable and its visible effect, including when it did not help.

Simplify when needed

Return to isolated J/C-turn parts if the complete turn cannot be repeated comparably.
