HOW TO DO IT

Orientation and Travel-Arrow Rehearsal

Prevent confusion between physical board ends, edges and the current leading foot.

Preparation and setting

Level secured board; no sliding. Use an imagined arrow or a line in snow, never a person as a travel target.

Exercise sequence

  1. Point to the physical nose and tail.
  2. Identify toe/heel edges from boot orientation.
  3. Choose a travel direction and name its leading foot.
  4. Reverse the travel direction without renaming the physical nose/tail or edges.
  5. Look comfortably in each direction while keeping the board stationary.

Transfer

Before torsion, reverse diagonals and switch; say the intended foot and edge before the first attempt.

Errors addressed

Wrong edge named in switch; Ambiguous front-foot cue; Looking creates unwanted torso impulse.

Success check

Rider correctly names each reference in both travel directions and looks ahead without forcing the joints.

Simplify when needed

Do the exercise without the board first if naming and balancing compete for attention.
