Term

Pressure magnitude

How much load the board is carrying against the snow at a given moment.

GLOSSARY · Movement & mechanics

Pressure rises when the rider bends the board through the middle of a carve or lands a jump, and falls when unweighting or going over a crest. Managing the amount of pressure keeps the board in contact and controls how much it bends.

Context and distinction

Magnitude is how much pressure there is; distribution is where it is. It cannot be read precisely from posture alone, so teaching frameworks treat it as a qualitative description.
