Trick

Rock to Fakie

A wall or coping stall in Nate Kern's example: rear-foot support over the coping with the nose extended beyond it without touching down, a brief stall, then a return down the wall in reverse travel.

HOW TO DO IT

Rock to Fakie — Wall/Coping Version

Nate Kern's example stalls with rear-foot support over coping, nose beyond it without touching down, then returns in reverse travel.

Preparation and setting

Reverse/switch control, inspected wall/coping and on-site instruction.

Execution / application sequence

  1. Approach the reviewed wall flat-based.
  2. Receive the source's rear-foot support near coping.
  3. Keep the nose extended without an unintended second contact.
  4. Pause briefly with control.
  5. Use the reviewed small rear-foot hop to return.
  6. Look over the rear shoulder along the return and absorb the transition..

Learning and practice

Separate low wall return from coping stall. Support location belongs to this example, not every obstacle.

Errors, limits and corrections

Nose touches unexpectedly: reduce ascent and review position. Stalling too long loses the return: shorten pause. Reverse landing drift: rebuild switch control.

Observable checks

Brief stall and deliberate reverse return are identifiable.

The named exit is preserved in the label; detailed stance and rotation remain unverified.

Additional teaching summary — coaching review required

S5: ride flat-based toward the top of the wall, place rear-foot support over the coping, briefly stall, then return down in reverse travel; a small rear-foot hop helps the return, attention over the rear shoulder tracks the transition and the knees absorb compression.

Additional editorial review notes

The support location belongs to this example; no rear-binding position or weight ratio is imposed on every Rock to Fakie.
