Method

SAFE Practice Sequence

CASI's Static → Active → Free → Experimentation sequence organizing learning from supported practice toward independent exploration.

HOW TO DO IT

SAFE Practice Sequence

SAFE is CASI's Static, Active, Free, Experimentation learning structure. It organises practice; it does not certify skill or impose one fixed lesson duration.

Preparation and setting

An agreed goal and instructor-selected learning environment.

How to understand / apply it

  1. Explore the movement without travel.
  2. Add a controlled moving task.
  3. Ride it independently in the selected setting.
  4. Experiment with a modest variation.
  5. Reflect on what changed and return to an earlier stage if needed.

How to learn / practise

For edge control, use stationary exploration, traverses, independent shallow arcs and controlled shape variations. Record learner feedback after each stage.

Errors and corrections

Skipping straight from a pose to demanding terrain: add the active stage. Treating free practice as unobserved guessing: keep an agreed outcome. Experimentation without control: regress the task.

Observable checks

The learner can perform and explain the task independently before a new demand is added.
