Shape and Corridor Comparison

Teach speed management through an appropriate path rather than turn frequency alone.

HOW TO DO IT

Shape and Corridor Comparison

Teach speed management through an appropriate path rather than turn frequency alone.

Preparation and setting

Linked turns and chosen stops established; quiet visible corridor with margins.

Exercise sequence

  1. Plan corridor and finish.
  2. Ride short ordinary sequence and observe shape/speed.
  3. Repeat with modestly rounder completion inside corridor.
  4. Compare at equivalent points.
  5. Change size modestly without changing other demands simultaneously.
  6. Stop in zone and explain chosen path.

Transfer

Transfer to resort route decisions; ice, steeps and narrow passages require separate learning.

Errors addressed

Rapid shallow turns accelerate; Turns cross lane boundary; Last-second braking; Blind line following.

Success check

Rider chooses and reproduces a shape that maintains speed and fits route/stop space.

Simplify when needed

Return to wider/easier terrain or individual turns if the chosen shape cannot fit safely.
