Term

Sidecut radius

The geometric radius or radii describing the sidecut; not a fixed prediction of actual turn radius.

GLOSSARY · Equipment, setup & maintenance

Sidecut radius is the radius of the circle that the board's sidecut follows, often 7–10 metres for all-mountain boards. A smaller radius turns more tightly; a larger one is more stable in long turns.

Context and distinction

Sidecut radius describes the board; turn radius describes the actual turn, which riders can make tighter or wider.
