Small-Feature Method Comparison

Comparing an established coast with a controlled pop, then an ollie only when the component skill is available, on a suitable familiar feature.

HOW TO DO IT

Small-Feature Method Comparison

A small-feature method comparison studies how an established coast, pop or ollie changes the outcome. It is an instructor-selected comparison, not a demand to try all methods on an arbitrary feature.

Preparation and setting

Component skills established; one suitable known feature.

Execution / practice sequence

  1. Record the baseline method and approach.
  2. Perform a controlled baseline.
  3. Choose one other established method.
  4. Reassess the approach for the changed trajectory.
  5. Compare balance and landing.
  6. Return to baseline when control degrades.

How to learn / practise

Change method before feature size. Use R03–R05 for the existing detailed movement drafts.

Errors and corrections

Same start plus stronger pop may move contact. A method the rider cannot reproduce should not be inserted merely to complete the comparison.

Observable checks

The effect of method change is described without confusing it with changed speed or geometry.

editorial review notes

Reassess the approach for each method; log balance, trajectory and landing outcome. Not a universal prerequisite ladder or a self-guided lesson for arbitrary side hits.
