HOW TO DO IT

Sone

Saechika's version links a heel-side turn to tail pressure using the heel-side portion of the tail. It is not necessarily a full spin.

Preparation and setting

Reliable heel turns, tail press and a controlled press release.

Execution / application sequence

  1. Enter a manageable heel-side turn.
  2. Progressively organize tail loading while retaining the turn line.
  3. Open the chest toward travel as the teacher describes.
  4. Maintain useful board flex rather than abruptly sitting behind the tail.
  5. Release the supported position.
  6. Return to ordinary balanced riding.

Learning and practice

Alternate normal heel turns and short tail-supported passages. Lengthen the supported phase only after the return remains deliberate.

Errors and corrections

Stopping: reduce excessive braking and shorten the hold. Falling behind support: restore hips over the loaded tail. Inconsistent support: revisit heel turns and ordinary tail presses.

Observable checks

The turn links into identifiable heel-side tail support and back to a chosen line.

teaching summary — coaching review required

S1: establish the turn, progressively organize tail loading, keep the board flexed and release into a controlled return; opening the chest toward travel helps maintain the supported position. Errors named: braking to a stop; difficulty balancing on the tail's heel-side portion — the teacher recommends revisiting heel turns and tail presses.

editorial review notes

Sone is not necessarily a full spin; no 360 is assigned by default.
