Term

Spin

An aerial or supported rotation; record direction, rotation amount, stance and terrain.

GLOSSARY · Freestyle & trick grammar

A spin is a rotation of the rider and board, usually around a near-vertical axis, named by direction (frontside or backside), stance and amount (180, 360, 540…). Spins happen on jumps, flatground and features.

Context and distinction

A flat spin rotates upright; a cork tilts the axis off vertical. The rotation amount alone does not name a complete trick.
