Term

Stance

The rider's arrangement over the board; distinguish body position from binding setup.

GLOSSARY · Movement & mechanics

Stance can mean two things: how the rider stands and moves over the board (athletic, centred, flexed) and how the bindings are set up (stance width, angles, which foot forward). Both affect balance and how easily the rider turns.

Context and distinction

Stance as body position differs from stance as setup. Regular and goofy are stance directions, not stance positions.
