Switch Backside 180 — Ground
A switch backside half-turn into main stance. The late part of the turn limits forward visibility, so board alignment and a predictable landing line matter more than twisting farther.
Preparation and setting
Backside 180, Half Cab, switch toe-edge approach and stable small ollies.
Execution / application sequence
- Enter switch on a controlled line.
- Build modest toe-edge preparation and flex.
- Pop upward before the board drifts sideways beyond the intended path.
- Guide backside rotation while drawing the board beneath the body.
- Complete the half-turn into the main-stance landing line.
- Absorb and look along the outgoing path as visibility returns.
Learning and practice
Practise switch pop first, then modest rotations. Use main-stance BS180 to understand blind landing organization without treating the switch movement as identical.
Errors and corrections
Early departure: finish preparation before extending. Board drifts sideways: reduce winding and approach curve. Looking down through contact: use a repeatable landing direction and regain forward vision promptly.
Observable checks
The rider lands in main stance, maintains the chosen lane and does not need a second pivot to complete the turn.

teaching summary — coaching review required
The lesson develops toe-edge approach control, an upward ollie and lower-body board alignment for the blind landing, while identifying premature take-off and excessive sideways drift as problems.
