GLOSSARY · Orientation & naming

Riding switch means travelling with the rider's usual rear foot leading. The board, edges and ends stay the same; only the direction of travel relative to the rider's natural stance changes. Many tricks are named separately when started switch.

Context and distinction

Switch describes stance relative to the rider, not difficulty. Fakie is an older or context-specific word for backward travel, and Cab names a rotation started switch; the three are related but not interchangeable.
