Tail Butter Frontside 180 Out — Snow
Tail-supported travel followed by a popped, counterrotated frontside half-turn to switch. The tail carries support while the torso prepares the exit; board flex contributes to release.
Preparation and setting
The publisher develops this from Ollie, Nollie, Tail Butter and counterrotated 180s. Begin stationary or on gentle snow, not a rail.
How to do it
- Perform a small controlled nollie.
- Settle into tail support with a modest nose lift.
- Open arms and shoulders while maintaining the supported position.
- Release an ollie from the tail and counterrotate the board through Frontside 180.
- Rebalance over both feet and ride away switch.
How to learn it
Rehearse the sequence without the board, then on flat snow. Practise the counterrotated ollie exit independently before joining it to the press. Add movement only after both tasks are distinct.
Errors and corrections
Nose forced excessively high: reduce press amplitude. Board rotates while trying to hold the position: separate upper-body preparation from board movement. Weak exit: revisit tail release rather than throwing the shoulders harder.
Checks and cues
Tail support is visible, the exit is popped and the rider continues switch without an unwanted slide. Cue: support, open, release. Slight snow edging is permitted in the source; this is not the flat-base box lesson.
