Trick

Tail Press — Feature

A lengthwise slide on a feature supported toward the tail, with the nose lifted.

HOW TO DO IT

Tail Press: Snow Preparation and Ride-On Box

Tail-supported lengthwise travel with the nose lifted.

Preparation and setting

Controlled 50-50 for the feature application; stationary tail support first.

How to do it

  1. Begin centred and flat-based.
  2. Move support toward the rear foot.
  3. Continue the hip movement toward tail support until the nose rises.
  4. Keep hips and shoulders aligned.
  5. On a low flat ride-on box, establish lengthwise contact and add the press gradually.
  6. Return to centred support for the simple exit, then absorb contact.

Learn it

Stationary hold → slow snow press → short box application. Popped exits are later variations.

Errors and corrections

Knee collapsing inward: restore stable supporting-leg alignment. Toe/heel lean: reduce the press and rebuild flat-base support.

Cues

Move the hips; keep the base quiet.

Successful attempt

Nose lift without sideways loss of support.

Boundary

Hold durations are practice choices, not universal readiness thresholds; recentering is the editorial basic-exit option.

teaching summary — coaching review required

S10: shift support from centre toward the rear foot and further toward the tail through hip movement, keeping shoulders and hips aligned with the board. It warns against toe/heel leaning and off-centre box support. A press is not merely raising a foot or flexing a knee.
