Term

Taper

A difference between nose and tail width, usually with a narrower tail.

GLOSSARY · Equipment, setup & maintenance

Taper means the nose is wider than the tail. It helps the tail sink and the nose float in powder and makes the board turn more naturally in one direction.

Context and distinction

This entry is the board-design meaning. In training, taper means reducing load before an event — a different term.
