Term

Timing

When an action occurs relative to the movement or terrain sequence.

GLOSSARY · Movement & mechanics

Timing is when a movement happens in relation to the turn, the terrain or the trick — for example starting an edge change before or after the fall line, or popping at the lip of a jump. Good timing often matters more than strength.

Context and distinction

Timing is when; duration is how long; intensity is how strong. All three are needed to describe a movement.
