Drill
Bank exit gate
HOW TO DO IT
Bank exit gate
make exit control the measure of the turn.
Preparation and setting
Required: rounded turns, bump absorption and planned stops. Choose a broad low shoulder with a visible continuation and no abrupt lip. Inspect surface firmness at the entry and exit rather than judging only the bank's middle. Begin with one bank that returns to easy open snow.
Exercise task
- select an imaginary exit gate in open snow, using fixed landmarks outside the rider's path. Ride a modest arc through the bank and cross that gate in the intended direction.
Observe and diagnose
Observe: whether the rider starts preparing the exit before reaching the bank's end.
Transfer and success check
use bank assistance inside a bump sequence. This tests overshooting, stalling and holding an edge after support ends. Success requires a controllable ride-away, not reaching high on the bank.
Regression
lower, wider bank with a smoother connection.
Progression
one ordinary turn after the gate.
