The base is the plastic (usually polyethylene) bottom of the board that slides on the snow. It is waxed to glide better and protect it, and repaired with P-Tex when scratched or gouged.
Context and distinction
Base means the board's underside. Base of support is a balance term for the area that supports the rider.
