Term

Blended turn

A turn combining carved and skidded components.

GLOSSARY · Turns & riding control

Most everyday turns are blended: part of the turn carves cleanly on the edge and part of it skids to control speed or tighten the line. Riders adjust the blend to snow, terrain and speed.

Context and distinction

Carved, skidded and blended describe the track the board leaves, not how good the rider is. A blended turn is a deliberate choice, not an unfinished carve.
