Skill

Controlled Straight Glide

A repeatable straight glide with a deliberate start, stable travel and controlled finish on suitable terrain.

Aliases

Straight runen · Common lesson shorthand; not always equivalent without control criteria

HOW TO DO IT

Short Glide with Natural Runout

Test support and free-foot placement while eliminating unnecessary steering.

Preparation and setting

Very gentle short lane with a clear natural slowing runout; front binding secure and free-foot placement rehearsed.

Exercise sequence

  1. Inspect start, lane and runout.
  2. Align board and settle into mobile support.
  3. Begin the shortest useful glide.
  4. Place free foot deliberately and look to runout.
  5. Keep joints available without deliberate steering.
  6. Let the runout stop the glide, then compare posture and lane.

Transfer

Use the same short approach for D18/D19; do not lengthen to solve balance.

Errors addressed

Tailward retreat at start; Arm-induced turn; Unstable free foot.

Success check

Repeated glides stay in the lane and finish within the planned runout without rescue movements.

Simplify when needed

Shorten the start or return to stationary placement and D02.

Editorial origin

SBSweet editorial exercise; not claimed as an official association drill.
