Drill

Crest–descent–dip observation

locate a timing error after a crest.

HOW TO DO IT

Crest–descent–dip observation

locate a timing error after a crest.

Preparation and setting

Use one low crest followed by a shallow visible dip. The rider must maintain a controlled traverse and have demonstrated AMTA-01. A repeating mogul field is too complex for the first timing check. Set entry pace before the feature and keep the runout unobstructed.

Exercise task

  1. ride the selected feature while the observer notes three moments: smallest leg length, beginning of extension and deepest trough. Compare against the actual terrain positions.

Observe and diagnose

Corrective use: distinguishes early pushing from a delayed reach.

Transfer and success check

maintain contact in a slow bump turn without locking at its bottom. The goal is usable support and recovery, not perfectly constant head height or uninterrupted contact under every possible condition.

Regression

a shallower dip.

Progression

add a second low rise at different spacing.
