Drill
Equipment–movement separation
HOW TO DO IT
Equipment–movement separation
avoid attributing every slide to dull edges.
Preparation and setting
Inspect equipment in a stable place with appropriate hand protection and tools; do not run bare fingers along a damaged edge. Record known service history and bevels if available. A qualified technician should decide repairs when the tune is unknown or the edge is damaged. The on-snow comparison belongs on a gentle, visible, low-consequence surface, never above an uncontrolled runout.
Exercise task
- log one known easy firm-snow turn, the phase of any slip and the equipment condition. A coach reviews movement; a technician reviews edge concerns when warranted. After a documented intervention, compare the same task only under reasonably similar conditions.
Transfer and success check
maintain a useful service history. Success is a justified action and honest comparison, not a promise that sharpening fixes every washout.
Regression
easier snow or no on-snow test if stopping is uncertain.
Progression
ordinary linked turns after control returns.
