Drill

Exit-heading comparison

distinguish closure from emergency braking.

HOW TO DO IT

Exit-heading comparison

distinguish closure from emergency braking.

Preparation and setting

Use a broad clear lane where the rider already controls rounded skidded turns. Check traffic before traversing or closing uphill. A narrow corridor may not permit the chosen shape; do not force closure across other users' lines. On actual steeps, establish AMTA-08 and a sideslip fallback first.

Exercise task

  1. ride a short baseline set, then a comparable set with each finish aimed slightly farther across the local slope. Keep entry demand and turn count similar.

Observe and diagnose

Observe: speed at each transition, width used, and whether braking occurs only at the end.

Transfer and success check

short steep sequences. Do not run an intentionally fast open-turn comparison if it exceeds control. Success is a stable pace with room for the next turn, not a prescribed number of degrees.

Regression

isolated turns.

Progression

preserve closure within a modestly narrower lane.
