Drill

Grounded Flexion/Retraction-Based Pair

Time leg shortening with transition rather than hold a permanent crouch.

HOW TO DO IT

Grounded Flexion/Retraction-Based Pair

Time leg shortening with transition rather than hold a permanent crouch.

Preparation and setting

Established linked riding and stop; moderate range; gentle smooth known terrain.

Exercise sequence

  1. Rehearse shared leg shortening without hip fold.
  2. In skidded pair shorten progressively around connection.
  3. Coordinate release and support change.
  4. Develop leg length into next arc without a kick.
  5. Stop and check range/contact.
  6. Transfer modest sequence to known carved pair and compare.

Transfer

Compare CD16/CD18; uneven terrain and laid turns are later applications.

Errors addressed

Low pose with tail throw; Rearward collapse; Bottoming out; Abrupt board ejection on extension.

Success check

Purposeful shortening produces a predictable grounded connection and usable next arc.

Simplify when needed

Reduce amplitude, restore fore/aft support or practise simpler skidded pair.
