Term

Invert

A trick or movement in which the rider becomes inverted; not a synonym for every off-axis rotation.

GLOSSARY · Freestyle & trick grammar

An invert is any trick where the rider goes upside down — head below the board — during the movement. In halfpipe it often refers to hand-supported or airborne inverted tricks.

Context and distinction

Invert is a broader term than flip. Off-axis spins are not automatically inverts unless the rider actually goes upside down.
