HOW TO DO IT
Leg-Length Reserve Rehearsal
Find useful flexion/extension range while preserving room for correction.
Preparation and setting
Supported stationary stance followed by a modest standing arc; normal secured boots and comfortable joint movement.
Exercise sequence
- Flex through available ankles, knees and hips without replacing the movement with a deep waist fold.
- Lengthen partway and stop before joints lock. Make a small additional adjustment to verify reserve.
- Shorten again while keeping pelvis and trunk coordinated. Observe whether the action becomes an aft sit.
- Use a small version in one familiar arc and recover to ordinary riding.
- Record the range that remains functional in motion, which may be less than stationary maximum range.
Transfer
Use the demonstrated reserve in ED06 and in recovery ED09. Range is a working resource, not a depth score.
Errors addressed
Locked long-leg pose; Bottomed-out preparation; Pull interpreted as sitting back.
Observable success
The rider retains adjustment range at both ends and can return without a fore-aft rescue.
Regression
Use smaller changes in ordinary standing turns. Adapt the cue to actual movement constraints rather than demand a universal squat depth.
